Via Laietana is currently one of the main arteries of Barcelona, ​​connecting the “Eixample” from Plaza Urquinaona up to the Port/Marina and Barceloneta. 

It divides the neighbourhoods of San Pedro "Sant Pere", "El Born" (old neighbourhood of La Ribera, disappeared due to the construction of the Citadel in 1714), the Gothic Quarter and the rest of "Ciutat Vella” (the Old City). A street with modernist and neoclassical buildings.

Recently the Municipality of Barcelona decided to realise a new pedestrian plan in order to reduce the traffic in Via Laietana by widening the sidewalks and make it more comfortable for pedestrians and cyclists.
